My Platform
Kids & Families.
The kids of this city deserve top-tier education, no matter which school district they belong to. As a Verona School Board Member, I’ve worked countless hours to ensure just this. I believe that Fitchburg is a great place to raise a family and those families deserve a happy, healthy, safe and affordable place to raise their children.
Specifics:
I support our a teen center as a great way to provide safe and honest spaces for kids to navigate the complexities of their daily lives (in their own zip code), without the pressure to perform or produce
I believe that our amazing growth should be balanced with growing municipal services
I support planful ways to keep our community affordable for all with a diversity of housing options.
I support traffic and safety measures to ensure our kids are safe walking to school and playing in our neighborhoods
Fiscal Responsibility.
As a small business owner, I know what it means to make hard financial decisions. I can represent thoughtful and fiscally responsible growth. With the growth of a community, you need someone who has managed everything from multi-million dollar budgets to a 3-figure line-item, bringing an inclusive and responsible approach to city funding and growth.
Specifics:
I support the building of a new police facility within the reasonably approved budget that matches the population growth expected for our area
I support ongoing development that both respects established communities and is done in a financially feasible manner
I support development that uses renewable resources for a return on investment.
I support initiatives like the healthy neighbors initiative, which uses modest funding to make a huge impact in our communities
I support our amazing senior center and parks and rec programming, which provides amazing opportunities for all residents at an approachable entry point
Community Advocacy.
I firmly believe that the best way to lead is to listen. As a technical strategist, my professional success is based on listening. During my time spent as a Wisconsin Women's Network mentor, I would not have been able to guide my mentee through a promotion and raise without first listening. As a school board member, I am thankful for each and every parent who comes to our meetings to speak, even if it's in passionate tones and dissenting voices. Because their voice matters and makes our policies better. Your voice matters.
Specifics:
I think discussing where we agree, where we disagree, and where we're missing voices at the table is fundamental to governing
I support listening sessions with neighborhoods that are undergoing chance and growth, trying to incorporate feedback to ensure authentic partnership
I will listen to those living in established neighbors and those living in rural areas. I will listen to those who have lived here since we were incorporated, as well as those who just moved to the area. I will listen to those who both agree and disagree with me. Because you cannot be an advocate without listening to the people you represent
